About us

The NBA is the most popular international professional sports league in China, with 279 million fans across the league’s social media platforms. The league focuses on promoting basketball and business development in China in multiple fields, including TV broadcasting, digital media, marketing partnerships, merchandise, games and events, youth basketball development, NBA Cares and other social responsibility programs.

Fans can have access to over 1,300 live games and highlights via mobile phone and TV. Since 2004, NBA Cares has held 180 community and charity activities in China, with over 400 current NBA players and legends having visited China to participate in basketball games, clinics and various interactive activities with fans. Fans may purchase 1,000-plus NBA products at NBA flagship stores, NBA Membership WeChat mini program, NBA’s mini program on Alipay, NBA APP and nearly 10,000 partner stores nationwide.

The NBA’s relationship with Chinese basketball dates back to more than 40 years ago. In 1979, the Washington Bullets (now Washington Wizards) played two exhibition games in China, becoming the first NBA team to visit the nation. In 1987, the first NBA game was aired on CCTV. In 2004, the league held its first NBA China Games. Following The NBA China Games 2019, 17 NBA teams have played 28 preseason games in the region. 14 Chinese players have played in the NBA and WNBA.
